LABOR DAY IS SEPTEMBER 6

As our US Bishops wrote in their document, A Jubilee for Workers: Challenges and Opportunities for the New Millennium, “It is worth remembering on Labor Day…that a person is more valuable for what she or he is than for what they have, for the work they do, rather than for what they possess. We must join together…to build a society that respects each person and their work.” The Marriage and Family Life Office encourages you to talk with your children about how work gives witness to our faith, how each of us can make the world a better place by who we are and what we do, and how all that we do can manifest the love of God. Spend some time reflecting on how you bring holiness and wholeness to the work you do. Lord, let our work be a source of joy to our family and a song of praise to you. Amen.

THANK YOU FROM THE ST. PAUL & ST. JOHN/HOLY ROSARY COMMITTEE

Our Back to School Project was once again successful! Thank you for donating during these challenging economic times. This was our 11th year in helping children in need and our target was to provide 200 kids with a new backpack and supplies specific to their grade. Thanks to you we were able to help 400 kids this year! In addition, extra school supplies were donated to their youth group, WARM, and the children of St. James the Less School! Special thanks to everyone who made this drive successful for the children! Please keep in mind the many ways you can help us plan now to ensure our 2011 drive reaches even more kids.

DAY OF PRAYER AND ADORATION FOR PEACE AND LIFE

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11

Immediately following the 8:30 a.m. Mass and concluding at 3:30 p.m. we will have prayer and adoration in the church. Please join us as we honor and remember those who have lost their lives or a loved one in the attacks of September 11, in military conflicts, or in any other acts of violence, including abortion, while we pray for the end of war and violence and pray for a culture that promotes the fullness of life from conception to natural death.

“To all the members of the Church, the people of life and for life, I make this most urgent appeal, that together we may offer this world of ours new signs of hope, and work to ensure that justice and solidarity will increase and that a new culture of human life will be affirmed, for the building of an authentic civilization of truth and love. “
Pope John Paul II -  In the Encyclical Letter Centesimus Annus

CATECHETICAL SUNDAY, September 19

There are half a million catechists who serve in Catholic parishes, missions and schools across the United States. These men and women are instrumental in introducing more than 4 million
children and youth to the faith and traditions of the Catholic Church. St. Paul Parish will celebrate Catechetical Sunday 2010 at all the Masses on September 18-19 and focus on the Sacrament of Enduring Love: Matrimony. The vocation of marriage produces the family unit where God’s unconditional love and forgiveness is experienced. It is also the first place we learn about faith.
