Home is a haven of happiness and love, it is the place where something is
discovered, established and developed. Home is truly where the heart is, even
when our life takes a detour.I come from a strong Catholic family. My mother is a daily communicant and
my father is a devout converted Catholic. I attended Catholic schools from the
age of 5 to 18. As a family we attended Mass every Sunday and every Holy day. I
had a very deep connection to both my familial "home" and my Church
"home".
My detour away from both began after I was married. For nearly ten years I
longed to be "home" yet was so far away. The next stop on my journey,
after a failed marriage, brought me back to the loving, open, and understanding
arms, and home, of my parents. We all knew I was almost home; I just needed the
right map to guide me on the rest of my journey.
My parents pointed me in the direction of the "Come Home" program
here at St. Paul’s. The open, welcoming and understanding environment in
which this program is offered to Catholics who have been away from their faith,
for whatever reason, is a true testament of God’s continual love for all of
his children.
Do you know someone who is stuck at a detour sign on his or her journey back
to the Catholic faith? Please point them in the direction of this wonderful
program, so that they may experience how good it feels to "come
home".
